Teen years are already filled with change, identity development, emotional growth, and social pressures. When blended family dynamics, divorce, remarriage, co-parenting, or shifting family roles are added to the mix, many teens carry emotions they rarely have space to fully process.

This 4-week summer therapy group creates that space. Led by Dr. Latasha D. McFarland, EdD, MS, LPC, Certified Imago Relationship Therapist, this group helps teens ages 13–17 navigate the emotional complexities of blended family life while building confidence, communication skills, emotional regulation, and healthy relationship patterns.

Through guided conversations, creative expression, interactive activities, journaling, mindfulness, and peer connection, teens will explore topics such as identity, loyalty conflicts, sibling and step-sibling relationships, boundaries, trust, communication, stress management, and coping with transitions between households.

Teens will learn how to express themselves in healthy ways, strengthen self-esteem, manage difficult emotions, and build tools for healthier relationships both inside and outside of the family system. Most importantly, they will discover they are not alone in their experiences.

This group integrates elements of Imago-informed relationship work, CBT, mindfulness practices, attachment-based approaches, and social-emotional learning to support teens in developing resilience, emotional safety, and stronger connections.

Designed to feel supportive, relatable, and engaging, this group offers teens a judgment-free environment where healing, growth, and authentic connection can happen.

Enrollment is limited to maintain a safe and supportive group experience

Each session combines brief educational content with guided partner exercises and structured dialogue. Skills you leave with, not just concepts you hear about.

The four sessions:

  • Week 1: Healthy Communication & Emotional Connection. Learn practical communication skills to connect more deeply, listen with empathy, and create emotional safety in your relationship.
  • Week 2: Conflict Resolution & Emotional Regulation. Discover tools for managing disagreements, reducing negativity, calming emotional reactivity, and resolving conflict in a healthier, more productive way.
  • Week 3: Intimacy, Romance & Relationship Attunement. Explore ways to strengthen emotional and physical intimacy, nurture romance, and become more attuned to each other’s needs.
  • Week 4: Shared Vision & Building Your Future Together. Develop a relationship vision that honors each partner’s values, goals, and dreams while creating a meaningful path forward as a couple.

Is there more?

  • This is an educational class, not group therapy.
  • Couples who complete this class and are interested in ongoing support may request a consultation with Jasmine for individual or couples therapy, pending availability

Who Is Jasmine?

I’m a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) and Imago-trained therapist practicing virtually in Maryland and Washington, DC. My background in HR and leadership gave me a front-row seat to what it looks like when people navigate major transitions, and how rarely they have real support for the relationship at the center of those moments. I love working with couples at the beginning, when the window is still wide open. Learn more about me here.
